Bill 27 Waiving Certain ADU Fees Passes
was signed into law by the Mayor on July 21st after its passage by the Honolulu City Council earlier this month. Homeowners are expected to save up to $10,000 in fees as a result of the new law, providing a significant boost to development of ADUs.
A couple key changes as a result of Bill 27:
- Waived fees will be reimbursed for ADU applicants who have already paid them
- A completed ADU pre-check form is required in order to submit an ADU building permit application. The form has been updated, so please make sure to use the July 2016 version (available at the DPP office and will soon be posted on their website).
The ADU Homeowners’ Handbook will be updated soon to reflect changes made by Bill 27.
